Truck as a Service

End-to-end solution that simplifies, accelerates and de-risks commercial fleet electrification

Our unique Truck as a Service (TaaS) proposition revolutionises the ownership, financing and servicing of commercial vehicle fleets.

TaaS delivers a frictionless way to migrate fleets of all sizes to electric, maximising their uptime and operational efficiency.

For a predictable monthly fee, customers have access to the full-electric Volta Zero, its charging infrastructure, and all servicing, maintenance, insurance, and training requirements.

Our electrification experts work seamlessly alongside customers at every step of the process.

This integrated end-to-end solution provides 360-degree electrification support to ensure an optimal fleet setup is designed, developed and delivered. Tailored to each customers business case, and to provide full peace of mind, this support continues once the vehicles are in operation for the duration of a Truck as a Service agreement.

Through understanding the needs of our customers, we have developed 7 core elements of Truck as a Service. Each element is designed to simplify and accelerate the transition to electric for our customers.

Electrification Services

Truck as a Service helps customers accelerate their route to zero-tailpipe emissions with an electrification programme defined around their individual fleet operations.

The journey starts with a free-of-charge Fleet Electrification Plan – a comprehensive assessment of the customer’s operations and depot facilities to fully understand the electrification infrastructure needs, and a timeline to implement it. We also use the customer’s own telematics data to understand the operations of the existing fleet through Route Electrification Optimisation (REO) analysis and a use case study to realistically confirm the vehicles that can be transitioned from diesel to electric now, and in the future.

This creates a shared vision of the journey ahead to zero tail pipe emissions, anticipated CO2 savings, a view on total cost of ownership and subsidy eligibility, which is delivered through our subsidy advisory team. They ensure all government and local authority financial support is fully recognised and leveraged for each customer, from the purchase of each Volta Zero to charging infrastructure, further maximising the cost-effectiveness of transitioning to electric.

Once this electrification plan is agreed, our customer success team will work hand-in-hand with the fleet manager, to guide the transition. They coordinate all the Truck as a Service elements and key milestones to deliver an optimal electric fleet solution.

Charging and Infrastructure

Through Truck as a Service, charging infrastructure is tailored to the individual needs of the customer.

We design and deliver a new and bespoke solution or adapt a customer’s existing infrastructure. For existing installations, we’ll assess and identify how these chargers can best work with a Volta Zero fleet through TaaS.

Importantly, our customer success team will guarantee that each charging solution, whether new or existing, is future proofed. This ensures new software and hardware updates can be easily accommodated within the existing infrastructure, while maintaining the ability to scale each solution alongside the future electrification needs of each customer.

Maintenance and Servicing

Our comprehensive approach to maintenance and servicing helps keep a customer’s fleet on the road when it matters most.

With Truck as a Service, each truck benefits from routine servicing, maintenance, inspections and extended vehicle cover over the holding period of the truck. This includes a guarantee on battery performance, offering customers assurance for the duration of their TaaS agreement.

In the event of an unplanned stop, customers and drivers have access to 24/7 roadside assistance. This includes a 2-hour commitment for roadside support and a 24-hour commitment to getting a truck moving again, either through repair or an optional replacement vehicle.

Financing and TCO

Our Truck as a Service financing solution offers customers more stability with less risk.

A 3-month deposit secures each Volta Zero with no further upfront costs, and Volta Trucks absorbs all residual value risk at the end of each vehicle TaaS agreement.

Each customer’s finance solution is tailored to deliver Total Cost of Ownership parity when compared with a like-for-like diesel alternative, across an eight-year lease. This is achieved through combining best-in-market funding specialists, legislative benefits and incentives, reduced ‘fuel’ costs, as well as reduced service and maintenance, thanks to the longevity and reliability of the Volta Zero’s electric powertrain.

Insurance

Truck as a Service insurance protects customers’ drivers, Volta Zero fleet and their business from the unexpected.

Delivered through our carefully selected partners, customers are reassured with 3rd party liability and accidental damage cover.

Training

With our dedicated training programmes designed for drivers, fleet operators and technicians, customers can transition to electrification with confidence.

Across the three dedicated programmes, tailored content includes everything required to embrace electrification, from operating and maintaining a Volta Zero to managing a fleet of electric trucks.

Telematics

Truck as a Service telematics seamlessly integrates with the full TaaS solution, providing customers with a complete view
of their Volta Zero’s, charging infrastructure, fleet operations and more.

Compatible with existing fleet management platforms, our telematic solution offers a uniquely comprehensive set of insights across all Truck as a Service elements which can be used to optimise efficiency, vehicle uptime and TCO.

Our integrated approach also means each Volta Zero benefits from remote diagnostics and over-the-air software updates. This ensures the vehicle is kept up to date with the latest software and feature releases for the duration of the TaaS agreement.

Truck as a Service and Sustainability

Truck as a Service places sustainability at the heart of each fleet’s commercial vehicle operation, extending beyond the Volta Zero’s zero tailpipe emissions. Through our circular business model, where Volta Trucks retains responsibility for the repair and recycling of each vehicle, we are incentivised to design a truck that is built to last.

That is why our innovative TaaS solution covers software and hardware updates, comprehensive service and maintenance, and end-of-life battery management, all to ensure we achieve zero waste to landfill.

The Volta Zero

The Volta Zero is the world’s first purpose-built full-electric 16-tonne commercial vehicle. Designed to improve inner-city safety for vulnerable road users and air quality, the Volta Zero is a significant contributor towards the future vision of zero emission cities.
