Two new Truck as a Service (TaaS) Hubs announced in Duisburg and Madrid

State-of-the-art facilities designed to support brand’s innovative TaaS offering

New sites join locations already established in Paris and London

Volta Trucks, the leading and disruptive all-electric commercial vehicle manufacturer and services provider, has confirmed the expansion of the brand’s Truck as a Service (TaaS) Hub network in Europe with two new sites confirmed in Duisburg, Germany, and Madrid in Spain. Both locations will be offering comprehensive customer support, training, maintenance, and servicing to the trucks operating in those markets, with the Hubs scheduled to open soon.

The new German Volta Trucks Hub is in Duisburg, to the west of the Rhine-Ruhr region – an area that is striving to become the first climate-neutral industrial region in Europe. The new centre covers 3,000m² and incorporates eight service and maintenance bays and twelve external truck parking spaces along with a showroom, office space, conference rooms and the Volta Trucks Academy – the brand’s specialist training centre which will be used to educate drivers, sales teams, technicians, and fleet operators.

In Spain, the new Volta Trucks Hub, located in the Madrid municipality of Coslada, is positioned to the east of the capital and within easy reach of the city centre. The site is also strategically positioned close to Mercamadrid, Spain’s main fresh food distribution area along with Madrid’s main freight terminal and Madrid–Barajas Airport. The state-of-the-art facility, designed to meet the unique needs of an electric commercial vehicle fleet, covers an area of around 2,500m² and will house eight truck parking spaces, four workshop bays providing maintenance and servicing along with a showroom, administration offices, a customer call centre, and the Volta Trucks Academy.

Like today’s existing Hubs in Paris and London, the Madrid and Duisburg Hubs will be equipped with a range of chargers strategically installed to meet the charging needs of the Volta Zero alongside other LCVs and passenger cars.

Confirming the expansion of the Truck as a Service Hub network, Casper Norden, Chief Fleet Solutions Officer at Volta Trucks, said

“The new Hub locations in Duisburg and Madrid are a critical element in delivering the Truck as Service (TaaS) solution. They join sites already established in Bonneuil-sur-Marne, south of Paris, and Tottenham, in London. TaaS supports our customers and partners switching to an electric fleet by providing a range of turnkey components in one package, delivering competitive total cost of ownership and vehicle uptime, de-risking and accelerating their switch to the all-electric Volta Zero.”

Ends.

 About the Volta Zero

The Volta Zero is the world’s first purpose-built all-electric 16-tonne vehicle designed for urban logistics, reducing the environmental impact of freight deliveries in city centres. Designed from the ground up with an operating pure-electric range of 150 – 200 kms (95 – 125 miles), the Volta Zero will eliminate an estimated 1.9M tonnes of CO2 by 2026.

Safety is also at the heart of Volta Trucks, with the ambition to produce the safest trucks for our cities. The Volta Zero was designed for electric from the outset, which facilitates a step-change in vehicle, driver and pedestrian safety. Thanks to the removal of the internal combustion engine, the operator of a Volta Zero sits in a central driving position, with a much lower seat height than a conventional truck. This combination, plus a glass house-style cab design, gives the driver a wide 220-degrees of visibility, minimising dangerous blind spots.

Volta Trucks is also innovating with its Truck as a Service proposition that has revolutionised the financing and servicing of commercial vehicle fleets. Truck as a Service offers fleet managers a frictionless and hassle-free way to electrify their fleet by offering an all-inclusive service for a single, affordable, monthly fee. It provides access to an all-electric Volta Zero, with its charging infrastructure needs provided by world-leader Siemens, insurance, servicing, maintenance, and training requirements, maximising the uptime and operational efficiency of the vehicle.
